We are what we eat
Winter time always means warm houses and festivities, and where there are festivities, there are always people and food. :D All sorts of yummy food ^^ but then the problem is how to keep the weight off. =( Speaking for myself, I LOVE to eat! If eating was a sport, I'd be the first to sign up. With Christmas following a month after Thanksgiving, the list of parties keep getting longer and longer (just like Santa's toy list!). Turkey, bread pudding, corn, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, and stuffing all slowly evolve into Christmas cookies and sweets, candy canes and gift giving. Eventually after going to so many parties and consuming so much delicious food cooked by the different hosts, it's easy for the food to just stay with us. When it's the summer, it is so much easier to go out and run around and burn of the calories that we eat but what can we do in the winter when the warmth in the house just seems to welcome us in?

This is very cute(: I definitely LOVE to eat too! I think it is just as difficult to go exercise and burn off calories in the summer as it is in the winter. In the winter it is too cold to go outside and go for a run, but this time of the year everyone is running around trying to find gifts. People do a lot more walking now than they do throughout the year. In the summer it is just as bad. In order to run when the sun is not too intense, you have to wake up real early (and thats no fun). To solve this problem I think the best option is to join a gym! (:
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree that these two months are full of eating different foods and going to the holiday parties so it can be hard to stay in shape. I love eating too! And when the food is good, it is hard to stop! Especially Christmas cookies! And in the winter it is hard to exercise because it is freezing out, and all you want to do is stay inside and cuddle on the couch in the warmth! So when it comes to staying in shape I would have to agree that joining a gym is a good solution in the winter, but once you join you have to make sure you have the motivation to actually going! I always say how I want to go to the gym, but I never actually go through with it haha! But as long as you're motivated, then joining a gym is definitely a good solution!
ReplyDeletePersonally, i have never had a problem worrying about my weight. If anything I have trouble all my life trying to put on weight. Being a football player it wasn't easy being scrawny and light. So essentially we both could have trouble with our weight but opposite. I love the winter months where I am eating and sitting home and racking up the pounds, and sort of dread those summer months where I'm running around shedding calories and fat. This time of year is about having a good time, and enjoying family and friends. It is normal to put on a couple pounds during this time of year, so don't stress and have a good time.
ReplyDeleteI live to eat. Love, love, love good food! I have to say that even though I'm naturally thin because of family genes, I'm out of shape in terms of endurance... and going to the gym almost never fits in my schedule. But walking around campus for me is plenty of exercise.
ReplyDeleteI love food... but during winter i don't eat much. I prefer being warm over being hungry. I hate the cold so I am too lazy to get up and go make food. Even though the heater is blasting in our house, I tend not to move that much. Since I am a vegetarian, I don't eat much at the parties that I go to. When I was in high school, Christmas was a time that we stressed over studying for midterms that we had coming up. When I am stressed, I don't eat much. I think thats why i don't gain weight during winter. :D
ReplyDeleteThere is ways to enjoy the winter without gaining weight, I think. One can not over-eat before or after a party. In this way, they will cut down on eating but the excess of eating that occurs at a party would balance out. Things like shovelling snow or going to the gym or doing indoor exercise can illeviate some of the over-eating also.
ReplyDeletethis is SO true! as you already know from reading my blog, I love eating too. its hard to keep off weight, but at the same time, I don't think people need to be overly concerned with what they're eating. Yes, we want to not gain 50 pounds during the holidays, but we should avoid holiday food at all costs. A happy medium has to be reached. My solution? Hours of DDR with the family after during all of the holiday festivities!
